reflecting on trinity

In early August I had the opportunity to spend five nights (six days) backpacking in the Trinity Alps Wilderness of Northern California, about five hours north of San Francisco. It was beautiful, peaceful, meditative, and at points exhausting.

Though I took many photos (which I am still sorting) this is one of my favorites. It is the reflection of morning clouds on Diamond Lake, while waiting for the coffee water to boil. I was captivated by the blue of the sky, the puffs of white from the clouds, and the green of the grass fresh from the dew of the morning.

Sunset view of the Eiffel Tower

In the spring of 2006 I had the opportunity to take a “Streets of Paris” photography workshop, taught by Peter Turnely. For ten days we spent our time roaming the streets of Paris, searching and waiting for images, ‘making photos’ as he referred to it, rather than ‘taking photos.’ On a previous visit to Paris (while living in Scotland) I had gone to the top of the Montparnasse Tower to see the skyline view. So, I decided to head up there again and wait for the sunset.
